Purpose

Safe Haven Support Solutions Ltd is committed to the highest ethical standards in all our operations and partnerships. As an Ofsted-regulated supported living provider, we recognise our duty to protect vulnerable people and ensure that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, or exploitation have no place in our organisation or supply chains.

This policy sets out our responsibilities and actions to prevent modern slavery, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and maintain transparency and integrity in all our business practices.


Scope

This policy applies to everyone working with or for Safe Haven Support Solutions Ltd, including:

  • Employees at all levels
  • Directors and officers
  • Agency workers, volunteers, and interns
  • Contractors and consultants
  • Accommodation providers, maintenance services, training providers, and other partners

We expect all individuals and organisations associated with us to uphold anti-slavery principles and comply with relevant laws and ethical standards.


Definitions
  • Modern Slavery: Slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking as defined in the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • Human Trafficking: Recruitment, transportation, harbouring, or receipt of people through coercion, deception, or abuse of power for the purpose of exploitation.
  • Forced Labour: Work or services imposed under threat or penalty without free consent.
  • Servitude: Services imposed through coercion, restricting a person’s freedom and ability to change their situation.

We are committed to acting with integrity in all dealings and to implementing effective systems to ensure slavery and human trafficking do not occur within our services or supply chains.

As a care and supported living provider, we are particularly alert to risks affecting young people, care leavers, asylum seekers, and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding against exploitation is central to our mission.

Zero Tolerance Approach

Safe Haven Support Solutions Ltd operates a strict zero-tolerance policy on modern slavery and human trafficking. We require the same commitment from our staff, suppliers, and partners.


Risk Assessment and Due Diligence

We conduct risk assessments of our operations and supply chains, focusing on areas such as:

  • Property and accommodation providers
  • Maintenance and cleaning contractors
  • Staffing agencies and recruitment partners
  • Training providers and consultants
  • Technology and equipment suppliers

Our due diligence includes:

  • Supplier pre-qualification checks
  • Contractual clauses requiring anti-slavery compliance
  • Regular monitoring and reviews
  • Training and awareness checks with staff and contractors
  • Clear reporting channels for concerns

Supplier Conduct

Suppliers and contractors working with us must:

  • Comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and all relevant laws
  • Have their own anti-slavery policies and processes in place
  • Train staff to recognise and prevent exploitation
  • Cascade these standards to their subcontractors and supply chains
  • Report any concerns or suspected cases immediately

We reserve the right to terminate contracts and report non-compliance to relevant authorities.


Training and Awareness

We provide training for all staff to help them:

  • Understand what modern slavery and trafficking look like
  • Recognise signs of exploitation and abuse
  • Follow clear safeguarding and reporting procedures
  • Understand the high-risk areas within social care and supported housing

Enhanced training is provided to managers, recruiters, and those working closely with suppliers.


Reporting and Whistleblowing

Safe Haven Support Solutions Ltd encourages all staff, suppliers, and stakeholders to report concerns about modern slavery. Reporting channels include:

  • Direct line managers or senior management
  • Confidential whistleblowing procedures
  • Reporting to safeguarding leads
  • External reporting to police or the Modern Slavery Helpline

We guarantee:

  • No retaliation against those who report concerns in good faith
  • Full and prompt investigation of all reports
  • Cooperation with statutory authorities in cases of suspected criminal activity

Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

We will:

  • Review supply chains and partner organisations regularly
  • Audit compliance where appropriate
  • Monitor safeguarding concerns linked to exploitation risks
  • Update training and procedures annually
  • Review this policy at least once a year or sooner if legislation changes

Compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015
